"Canoeing" refers to an uneven burn pattern that occurs when one side of the joint burns faster or more intensely than the other. This results in the joint burning down one side, resembling the shape of a canoe.
If canoeing does occur, it's possible to correct it by applying gentle pressure with a metal surface to the burning side while simultaneously lighting the slower-burning side. This can help even out the burn and salvage the smoking experience.
You can also rotate the pre-roll so that the faster burning side faces down. This will cause the heat to rise and cause the upper part of the pre-roll to catch up.
